Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak, one of the two Malaysian states lying admist the rain forest island of Borneo, is an exotic and friendly place, and a talk-about tourist destination for many travelers looking to explore the virgin greens.

The atmospheric aura of Kuching in Sarawak is vastly different from the rest of the states in Malaysia, as one feels one has stepped into another country when entering Kuching in Borneo, The place is rich in indigenous cultures and heritage.

It is here in Arizona, the Land of the Grand Canyon, in United States, where I have made my new residence, that I felt my cravings for our local Malaysian - Kuching food. While on the cook-up venture to satisfy my local food cravings, I found the need to archive my home-style recipes for my children. It is also a personal aim to pass down the family recipes to my children and their children, and food tradition is one way to connect the future generation to their roots in Kuching, and be acquainted with the local cultures and heritage of Kuching in Sarawak, and Malaysia.
