SEAFOOD TOMATO MEE ©





Tomato mee is a delectable noodle dish commonly found in Kuching and is served at most "Fried noodles stall". The condiments in tomato mee varies with each eating place. In this preparation, mee pok - flat yellow egg noodles are used and seafood are the main meat ingredients with italian pasta sauce added to enrich the tomato flavour in addition to the ketchup which are the basic common ingredient used and served by the stalls in Kuching.    

Ingredients and Preparation for 4


Prepare slices of onions, garlic, chilli, carrots, green vegetables, parsley/cilantro, green onion.
Prepare fish slices (using Tilapia), imitation crabs, prawns, fish cakes (sliced).

Cooking Steps

Fry onions, garlic, chilli, carrots in 3 tbs cooking oil in medium heat.
Add all the prepared seafood into the frying pan and fry for sometime (except for prawns to be added later into the sauce when noodles are cooked and ready to serve as prawns gets tough when cooked for long).
Add 2 tbs chicken stock brand, some pepper, 5 tbs tomato ketchup, 5 tbs pasta sauce, 3 cups water.
Boil mee pok - flat yellow egg noodles in hotwater and sieve.
Egg noodles can also be served deep-fried with the seafood tomato sauce over it. 
When ready to serve, scoop cooked ingredients over noodles, and add green vegetables, parsley/cilantro, green onions.
